COMMEMORATION OF ANZAC DAY
Local Conference A conference was held at the County Chambers at 4 o’clock yesterday afternoon of members of lecal bodies, theelergy, schools, band, military and ~ patriotic societies with regard to the commemoration of Anzao Day on the» 23rd iust. Mr H. M; Coulson (Deputy Mayor) was voted to the chair and explained the object of the meeting. A circular from the Internal Affaire Department embodying the wishes of the Hon Acting-Premier in the matter was read, after whioh the day’s programme was fully discussed. The following outline programme > for the day was decided upon : 12 30—Luncheon to Returned Soldiers. 2.3o—Assembly at Town Hall of. returned soldiers, military, band*, schools and citizens, and procession to Cass Square for a public patriotic gathering. 7 p.m.—Religious services as the local clergy might arrange in the various churches.
S 15 p.m.—Patriotic concert in the Princess Theatre in aid of the Westland Soldiers’ Glub-nnra. The Mayor, Town Clerk and County Clerk were appointed an executive to arrange tor the above programme being given effeot to. The meeting then concluded.
