A meeting of the Committee of the above Club was held at the Post Office Hotel at 8.30 n. 111., Mr AY. E. Willianiy (President) occupied the chair. The Salvation Army extended an invitation to the opening of the Soldiers’ Relatives lioytel at Eeatherston.—Received.
The organiser for Baniardo’s Homes T(^ : Easter AA'ediiesdav. —Received. Messers Sprob Jeffries and Co., acknowledged with thanks instructions to sell privileges for the Easter meeting.—Received. Pollock and Bevan (Air Houston), auctioneers, applied for the auction of the Club’s privileges. —Received and further consideration deferred. The N.Z. Racing Conference issued a new instruction with regard to the collection of accident fees, and notified tile appointment of Air. G. H. Gorton as Deputy Stipendiary 'Steward. The Conference also urged stringent action to suppress bookmakers and prohibit undesirables entering racecourses. It was notified that the candidates for the election of District Club Representatives to the Racing Conference were: —D. J. Evans, J. If. Finney (Nelson), B. P. McMahon (Reefton), and R. Patterson (West-port), two to be elected. The candidates for the election of delegates to the Disrict Committee wore:—D. J. Evans ,J. H. Finney, W. B. Gilbert, B. P. McMahon, IB Patterson, A. Porotti, AY. E. AA illiams five to he cleoted. A r oting papers are to be returned by Alay 31st. The N.Z. Trotting Association notified that Air C. 11. Gorton would be the Stipendiary Steward for the trotting events on Easter AY ednesday. Received. Sir George Clifford wrote asking the chairman’s opinion on various aspects of the continuance of racing for the information of the Efficiency Board, and submitted a copy of a statement made on behalf of the Racing Conference to the Hoard.— The chairman’s reply to the questions and general explanation was approved.
The President of the Country Racing Chibs' Association wrote on the same subject and intimated a conference of club delegates would be called av soon as deemed necessary to discuss the matter. —Received. The nominations for the Easter meeting wore received .totalling 123 entries for seven events, as against 119 for eight races last season. Various arrangements for the meeting on Easter Wednesday were completed. The Club received with thanks an enlarged photograph of Surgeon Captair Doctor, now on active service.
