STEAD’S REVIEW

MrSread has made many wouderfully correct t forscaats in connection with the war —his personal knowledge of European conditions gave him great advantages over others who WBre unfamiliar with international politics—but ha is going rather far when, in the Maroh 17th issue, he boldly contends that the war must end this year. Whether we with his argument or not, it is csrtain that this particular article of his, entitled, “ Will the War End This Year P” will be rend with tbe very greatest interest. Tbe questions and answers given in the tbirty-3evenlh instalment of the “ Catechism of the War,” are as informative as usual, Since the struggle began considerably over a

thousand questions have been answered in SteadV. These questions touch on every phase of the war, and the answers have put readers in possession of a mine of valuable and often unique information. The articles from other magazines given special review are as usual well selected. Amongst others there is an account of the social revolution in England, under the title, ” The Remodelling of a N *tioa ” , the story of the military operations in Rmmania is titled “ A Napoleonic Situation, but No Bonapsrre”; whilst brief sketches of the members of the Lloyd George Ministry appear under the heading, “The New Brooms.” In the National Efficiency section Mr J. A. Butler writes on “Training Women in Industry and Skill.” Mr Stead deals with the European struggle in his usual forceful way, He always contrives to give his readers something useful and interesting they oan get nowhere else. This accounts for the great popularity of Stead’ej which is the only successful magazine appearing every fortnight.
