increased. Brutal GermansLONDON, March 25. Three hundred women, children and aged men died in consequence of hardships, brutality and starvation immediately preceding, and during, the German retreat. There were 150 vetims at Chauncy alone. The destruction of property in tlie large towns lasted for three weeks, and some Germans admitted that the worn sickened them, but they were carrying out General Hindenburg’s orders.
