TOBACCO FUND,
At the meeting of tbo lecal Branch the Overseas Club fast week, the President pointed out additional funds yere needed to swell the Tobacco * und, because the number of men at he front were ever increasing, and so naking a greater demand. The Oversag movement is now fully accredited >y the British authorities. The following is an extract from the DirectorGeneral of Voluntary Organisations in England : “ The Overseas Club Tobacco Fund is entitled to all the privileges of Official War Office recognition, and may make full use of the words “ approved by the War Office” in connection with its work.” In a farther letter the Director-General wroto: “May I tbaok you again for the great work which the Overseas Club is carrying out aud which is conferring such well-appreciated benefits on our troops.” In a third letter he wrote : “ 1 want to appeal to you to oontinue oud if possible extend tbis branch of your work by providing even greater quantities of tobacco and cigaiettes for general distribution to the troops. No luxury is more appreciated by our soldiers than gifts of t. j nature.” An appeal such as this shoi. 1 invite a noble response from the p '" pie of this district to this useful food.
