- The Chairman’s Protest. [PEE PBEBB ASSOCIATION. —00PYRI6B®]. WELLINGTON, March 13. Brief but forceful remarks were made by the Chairman of the third Wellimgtoi) Military Service Board, Mr W. IL 8. Moorhouse, to-day in reference to 'the statement made by Archbishop 'O’Shea in an address delivered at Wellington on 25th February. Mr Moorhouse ■ said ho was sorry that Archbishop O’Shea was not present, because he desired to know whether the report as published m the papers was correct. One of the things which the Archbishop had, according to report, said, and Ito which lie '(Mr Moorhouse) strongly objected was: “That he was sorry Ito have to say that sectarian bigots bad got to work, withj the result that the week before last the Military .Board in the city had refused to exempt two theological students.” “Of course,” said Mr Moorhouse, “while the Board was doing the work it was engaged in, it must expect uncharitable criticism from the ungodly, which was bound to Offend, but it did not expeot that from high"authorities of (the Christian church.”
