The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed and outward correspondence approved. INWARD CORRESPONDENCE. From Treasurer, reporting reoeipis £869 9/1, payments £504 9/1, debit balance £1,468 15/. —Received. The Secretary stated there were also over £l,lOO of cheques outstanding.—Received. From Department of Health, Wellington, notifying representation in future would be Westland County five, Hokitika Borough one and Ross and Kumara combined one member.— Received.
From District Health Office, Christchurch, forwarding medioal register and asking it be corrected and returned, — Received.
From M. F. Burger, offering services as unrse.—Received. From Police Office, Hokitika, notifying removal of an old man to the hospital.—Received. From Mrs Biss9ll, Ruatapu, in connection with alleged overcharge for maintenance. — Received. The Secretary’s reply showing amount was in correct order, was approved. From E. Shadbolt, Ruatapu, enclosing £5 in settlement of account. —•Received and offer accepted. From Monnt Magdala Home, Christchurch, in reference to maintenance of two families in home.—Received.—Tt was resolved to pay for one family and repudiate liability for second one.
From J. Ritchie, Bruce Bay, in reference to charges to be made for services of the district nurse, and suggesting that the charges be made 18/6 for an ordinary visit, 5/ per day afterwards, and £3 3/ for a confinement, payment to be made to the Board at Hokitika. —Received. Mr Grimmond reported as to a representative meeting held at Waiho, which Mr Norman was to report on. It was resolved to agree to the resolutions come to at the meeting. From Mrs MacLacblan, District Nurse, pointing out that the question of yearly holiday was not mentioned in her agreement, and in her previous letter she had simply asked for particulars thereof. —Rsoeived. The Chairman Btated be had granted a request for leave to come up to attend, a dentist when she could make arrangements, It was pointed out that the nsnal holiday after 12 months’ service had been agreed to. From Constable, Stafford, forwarding residue of estata of deceased patient in hospital.—Received. From Education Department, Wellington, in reference to payment for indigent children.—Rsoeived.
From Canterbury Hospital Board, asking for instructions as to patient at Cashmere Sanatorium.-Received; shelter to be kept open until return of patient. From Public Trustee, Wellington, in reference to estate of deceased person.—Received; Secretary to take action, From Inspector General of Hospitals, Wellington, in reference to course of training of nurses.—Received. The Secretary reported action taken in granting relief up to £1 18/. The action was approved and in accordance with report, no farther aid to ba given. From Dr Fleming, Knmara, reporting on operations at Kumara and Otira.—Received. Mr Grimmond referred to the question of there being no medical officer for Ross and South Westland, and after disoussion Mr Wild moved that a committee consisting of the Chairman, Messrs Grimmond, Bruce, Murdoch and Wild confer as to the obtaining of medioal assistance and report at next meeting. Seconded by Mr McGregor and carried. From Kumara Committee enclosing acoonnts and contributions, also hospital report—Received. From T. J. Hampsoo in connection with amount due for maintenance of patient in Knmara Hospital.—Received ; referred to Chairman, whose action so far taken was approved. From Totara Committee enclosing accounts £4l 9/2, stating the Committee had not authorised visit of Dr Clayton to Herepo and dealing with g number of smaller matters. —Received, Mr McGregor moved the account ba referred to the dootor. Seconded by the Chairman. Mr Bruce moved the account ba paid, Seconded by MrMurdooh. Amendment lost and motion carried. •From Batoe stating there were 12 patients at Totara Hospital on Feb Ist, with no admissions or discharges during the month—Received. Mr Bruce moved that a return ba submitted by the Secretary for the annual meeting, showing cost of the several institutions etc., for the year -—Seconded by Mr Wild and carried. The Chairman moved to rescind a motion paesed in August last, giving definite instructions to colleot all available;acoounts. —Seconded by Mr Bruce and carried, Messrs Wild and McGregor voting against. From Surgeon Superintendent Westland Hospital, reporting patients oa 3i J -r, 4c, Admitted during Feb-
