LONDON, March 12. General Haig reports:—We slightly improved our position north eastward of Bouchaveyney secouring prisoners and we raided trenches southward ot Arras and bombed enemy dugnuts despite a string of resistance and we inflicted many casualties. Air fighting is continous. a French Operations. WELLINGTON, March 13. The High Commissioner reports nom London on March 13th at 1.20 p.m.: French Official.—ln the Champagne district we developed in .the afternoon a new attack on the German position west of Maison de Champage on a front of 1500 metres and we carried all the enemy trenches and captured ridge 18-5, penetrating the enemy fortified works on the northward slope. In AlsaceLONDON, March 13 There is a serious situation in A'lsace anH Lorraine, where there have been an enormous number of arrests of residents suspected of disloyalty and German suspects have been sent to the interior and imprisoned. Also much trouble in the munition factories owing to constant hunger. There arc strikes in the works, of both sexes, particularly at Wurtemberg and Baden, and many men have been called from the armies to replace the strikers and hunger-invalids. Russian Report. LONDON, March 12. A Russion communifue says: —We repulsed enemy gas attacks south-west of Lake Narotch and south-east of Kovel. PETROG'RAD, March 13. Two Imperial Ukases on "Monday suspended the sittings of the Duma, and the Council of the Empire will resume its sittings in April.
