W, Russell, Minister of Public Health, proposes to call a conference of representatives of the Department and the British Medical Association, to meet in Wellington shortly, to nißcass what steps should be taken to organise the profession, for the purpose of an adequate supply for military and civilian needs. The Departmental report on the subject shows that there are 546 doctors in the Dcraicicri in private aud institutional practice and 237 are engaged in military work, including 190 at the front.

Altogether it is reported that there are only 26 doctors in excess of the minimum considered the limit cf eafety.
