ROSS.
(From Our Own Correspondent) F\ANB’SHIELD COMPETITION This competition took placo at King Gtorge Bath on Saturday and proved a most interestiog time for a fair number of spectators, the fair Bex predominating. The lad", who were ail as keen as rtzot?, gave a highly creditable display of skill and
endurance. It took 83ch teem 45 minutes to go through the test, and it was freely remarked that it would be a difficult matter tu got 20 grown men in Weatlatd to go through the same physical ordeal and to be as fresh at the finish as the beys were. The High School team carried off the hononiß of the day, but did not greatly overshadow tbe three primary school teams, in compariaon to their age and height. It was indeed a pleasure to witness tbe game efforts of" tbe smaller lads in the lcßing teams. The thirds and fourths in 8., C., and Rois teams deserve special mention for their brave
display of grit and euduranep. They stuck to their task Ike British hsroe?. The High School boys display in the water wa3 really good being both cl an and strong work.
