A Press Association message states that Madge Johnson, the three-year-old daughter of Mr A. T. Johnson, Mauugatapere, was crushed to death last evening on her father's farm by an agricultural roller, drawn by horses temporarily unattended. At the Westport Bawling Club’s pavilion on Thursday evening, Mr J. O’Gor* man, who is leaving for Woodville, North Island to take up the position of postmaster, was farewelled by a large gather, ing of members. The Minister of Public Works stated to a Wellington reporter that he was greatly pleased with,, the progress made in settlement in Westland, especially at Wataroa, Hari Han and Waitaha. At each of these places there was a cheese factory and the district seemed fairly prosperous.
