Tlio committee of tlie Westland Racing Club met at the Rost Office liote>l
last evening, -u.r. W. E. Williams occupying tho chair. Mr. J. ,\I. Johnston, Palmerston North, wrote thanking the Club for the suuply of illustrated booklets. Mr. J. Maunder wrote acknowledging the appreciation of his services with regard to the water supply for the racecourse. Messrs Kohn, Auckland, wrote forwarding photographs of the' gold cup, and expressing pleasure that tho trophy lia'cl met with appreciation. The District Traffic Manager wrote promising consideration for the race time-table desired for tho Easter Wednesday meeting. The Internal Affairs Department wrote ackow lodging application for totalisator permits for April 11th. The Trotting Association wrote approving the trotting events on the Easter programme, and
stating Mr. C. H. Gorton had been appointed Advisory Steward for the events. Tho Red Cross Society wrote thanking tho Club for the use and gift of privileges at the January meeting, and forwarding tlie balance sheet of the receipts and expenses, showing a profit to tho Red Cross Fund of £2l os Bd. It was resolved to offer the same privilege to the Red Cross Society for the Easter meeting for the benefit of' the Patriotic Fund, Mr. J. Noble, handicapper wrote forwarding an explanation of the handicapping of Parlovna at the Jubilee meeting, stating that inadvertedly an error had been made in reducing the weights from the previous day, which oversight he regretted. Received as satisfactory and tj be forwarded to Mr. Sorrell. Mr. 0. H. Gorton wrote expressing pleasure at the satisfactory result of tlio Jubilee meeting. Tho Commissioner of Taxes
wrote acknowledging the receipt of £1,128, 13s 3d taxation on the Jubilee meeting in January. Racing dates for next season were fixed as follows:—Mid summer Meeting Bth and 9th January: autumn meeting, April 3rd (Easter Wednesday). Messrs Evans and Williams were nominated as delegates to the District Committee, and Mr. Evans as District Club representative to the Racing Conference, the election for which takes place in May. It was reported the new approach to tho racecourse for pedestrians was well advanced and would be a much appreciated improvement. The grounds and tracks were reported to be in first class order. It was stated that nominations for the Easter meeting were due on tlio 30th inst, and from all accounts there was not likely to be a dearth of horses
