ADDINGTON STOCK MARKET, CHRISTCHURCH, March 7. Messrs Matson and Co. report regarding to-day’.s / Add igton sale as follows : Fat Cattle.—There was a small yarding with the quality indifferent. Prices for best stuff were 20s to DUS better than last week. lii medium quality there was no change. Prime fat steers to £23 os, medium £ls 6s to £l6 15s; best heifers to £l7 7s bin, medium £l2 19s to £l4 6s ; best cows to £l7, ordinary £ll to £l4. Store cattle had a large yarding, but of most indifferent quality. The demand for steers was stronger than last week, and heifers were slow of sale. Store and forward cows were much easier. 2J- to 3-year steers £lO 10, yearling to 18-months, mixed sexes, £5 12s 6d to £6. 2-year old heifers £8 7s Gd; store and forward cows to £8 10s. The fait sheep yarding was medium, of mixed quality and mostly ewes, with the prices about on a- par with last week’s sale. Wethers 35s to 40s, medium 30s to 34s 6d, light and inferior 27s to 295; host ewes 34s to 38s medium and good 28s to 33s Gd, lighter and inferior 23s to 27s Gd. All of good quality met with good competition. Store sheep had heavy yarding wiui entries from all localities. 50 per cent of the entry was dealers’ sheep bougnt in anticipation of a rise, and the farmers now hesitate to purchase owing to the dry weather and extreme prices, hence the backward or late shorn shorn •sheep suffered; lambs to test 2s per head, ewes and wethers 3s. • All wellfleeced local sheep were in fair condition aud sold up to Inst week’s prices. Forward wethers 26s to 295; best ewes, 2-itooth- up to 38s, 4,6, and 8-tooth 28s to 335; best 4-yr old ewes to 34s 3d, medium 22s to 28s; rape lambs 17s to 22s Cd.
