BRITISH INDUSTRIES’ FAIR.
When speakiog here last week Mr R. W. Daltoo, H.M. Trade Oommiseioner, made reference to the British Industries Fair now beiDg held in England as a substitute for the Lsipsig Fair to which, prior to the war, British purchasers for toys, etc. had flocked. A journal jask to hand gives the following details of the Fair, which are interesting, in the light of the explanation given by Mr Dalton. All arrangements for the 1917 Fair are now complete, and forms of application for space are beiDg issued by the Board cf Trade. The Fair will be held from February 26th to March 9tb. The growth of the Fair has necessitated an iucreaseof space, with the result that it will bo held partly, as last year, in the Victoria and Albert Museum, placed at the disposal of the Board of Trade by the President of the Board of Education, and partly in the great hall and certain
galleiies in the Imperial Institute Building, which have bieo lent by the Executive Oonncil of the Institute and by the University of Loudon. In view of the risk of interference with
the output of mnpitioift of war, it has not been possible to include in the Fair certain trades which would otherwise have been invited to participate. The Fair, therefore, will be confined to the same trades as were sanctioned by the Minister of Muni-
tions last year ; that is to say, toys, gomes, eartheuwaro and china, glass, fancy goods, stationery and printing. All important development has taken place since last' year in that municipality of the city of Glasgow are organising a Fair at Glasgow which
will take place concurrently with the Board of Trade Fair in Lundcm, and will include certain trades Dot comprised in the London Fair. The Glasgow Fair, which is being held under the auspices and with the support of the Board of Trade, will include textiles, ready-made clothing, boots and shoes, foodstuffs (prepared and preserved), and domesiic chemicals. Over 20,000 invitations to each Fair wi’l be seat to oversea bnyers by the Board of Trade, those to firms in non Enropeau countries having been already dispatched.
