Wellington, Feb 28

Sir James Allen announces that Government has agreed to the terms of the appointment of the National Efficiency Board. He defines the objects of the Board as for efficiency during and after the war. The members are -Mr Ferguson, Wellington ; Mr Gunaon, Auckland ; Mr Mois, Eketahuna ; Mr Frostick, Christchurch; Mr Hunt, Invercargill. The last four will specially deal with Auckland, Wellington, Canterbury, and Ofcago-Southland respectively.

Mr Ferguson, as Chairman, will assist Mr Moss when required.

The functions of the Board are set out in 27 articles. The Board may summon witnesses and examine them on oath. The term of office is until revoked, or for twelve mouths after the termination of the war.

Three reports already have been received from the Board. The first deals with the organisation necessary to enable it to carry out its duties, and has been approved. Each member will nominate a voluntary expert as advisers for appointment by the Government. The Board will seek assistance from existing organisations in order to coordinate in producing and manufacturing, also in labour and commercial matters, and in distributing interests. Thß second report recommended immediate facilities for the management of soldiers farms and business. The third report dealt with a scheme for the purchase of such farms by the State, and is still UDder consideration.

As soon as possible the Board will consider the classification of indu> tries.
