Mr R. W. Dalton, H : s Majesty’s Trade Commissioner, accompauiod by Mrs Dalton, visited Hokitika on Saturday on business connected with his mission for the United Kingdom. Mr Djlton was met by the officers of tbe Westland Chamber of Commerce and was affotdecl an opportunity of meeting acme of the leading business people. LPer an aquatic trip to Lake Mahinap-ra and an impaction cf the milling plant of Butlers’ Ltd. at Ruatapu was organised. Me Park, vice-president of tbe Chamber, in tbe absence from town of the president, took c'-arga of the visitors, who greatly enjoyed the outing, and were much impressed with what they saw. Daring the evening Mr Dalton was induced to prolong his stay in Westland by visiting the south district, and yesterday afternoon left with tbe Mh isterial parly for Ross.

In consequence of this southern tour his add;e<3 here has been postponed till Wednesday afternoon when he will speak a l , the County Chambers at 2!45 o’ckck. The Mayor will .preside and as Mr Dalton has a very interesting addresr tj make a large attendance of business people is expected.
