WAIT AH A CATTLE SALE,
There was a' very large entry of both cattle and sheep at tiie Stock Sale held at AVaitalia on Thursday and price* were phenomenally high. Some well finished 2-year steers made to £9; fifteen months steers made to £6 9s ,anu yearling steers !to £3 19s; weaners to £2 2s: fat cows made to £lO 10s; fat heifers to £9; forward cows and heifers fiom £5 5s to £8 10s. Sheep sold remarkably well and fata reached 325. 3d. Messrs Sprot, Jeffries and Coy. sold as follows: Sheep.—On account Mr AV. Berry, 101 two and four tooth breeding ewes 25s ,44 shorn lambs (forward) 14s 6d on account Mr J. Anderson 72 fat e. and w. at 28s 8d; on account Airs Chinn 36 fat and forward e. and w. at 235; on account Air IF. Douglas 79 prime wethers 32s 3d. Cattle.—For Air C. Lafforty five heifers from £3 19s to £7 os. two yearling steers at £3 19s ; for Air Tremhaith two cows at £8 10s and £9 17s fid ; for Allen one stag at £9. one heifer at £5 15s; for Air James Cropper 4 heifers from £o 7s to £0 7s Oil; for Airs F. Chinn 7 cows and heifers from £7 to £‘7 6s; for Air. Jno. Douglas 5 dry cows at £6 13; for AfessrsAnderson Bros 6 steers from £6 9s to £9 55,. three cows (fat) at £lO, one dry cow at £5, 3 ditto at £4 2s 6d, one springer at £6 ss; for Air AV. Dcakin f ,l fat heifer £9, 4 dry cows at £6, one stag at £6 ss, two weaners at 33s ; for Air Jcr. Anderson 1 two-year steer £7, three dry cows from £6 2s 6d to £6 15s, one hull at £3 ss, 5 weaners at 335. LONDON, Feb. 22. AA T ool was a poor market, with good competition and prices fully firm. The Bradford market had a better tone, with merinos hardening. The Government is still commandeer* ing cross breds.'
