Interviewing General Haig.

In the Commons Bonar Law Btated that General Haig bad a conversation on the general situation with a certain French journalist, the proofs of which were sent to Headquarters, but owing to thß action of a subordinate it unfortuuately was not submitted to Haig himself. Cabinet knew nothing of the matter until the interview appeared. General Haig has given interviews to various influential gentlemen, journalists and others belonging to Allied aud neutral countries, It has been the custom for Allies and friendly neutrals (o be allowed to see our armies at work.
It is net in the public interest that matters should be further discussed as it affected car Allies and our Com-maader-in-Ohief.

Chamberlain, at a meeting of the Stock Exchange, said the problem of organising the man-power was so complex that it could nut be solved without the nation’s willing help. The war was rapidly approaching a crisis, and we believed it would finish this summer, but we can only beat ths enemy if we pat our whole strength, into the contest.
Hon A. Chamberlain suggested that clerks might Berve two broker® and the possible closing of the Exchange for a day or part of a day weekly in order to release men for national service.
He urged Btock brokers to consult the representative of his department regarding the suggestion.
