Cable Broken. WELLINGTON, Feb. 19. Tho Cook Strait cables have recently been giving a good deal of trouble and keeping tho repair steamer Tutanaol|i busy. Tlio cablo between 'White’s Bay and Lyall Bay has now parted. It is expected it will take a week to effect repairs. Maitai Enquiry Auckland, Feb 19 The enquiry into the loss of the Maitai was resumed to-day. OaptaiD McLean, cross-examined, said that he had beßn instructed by the agent St Rarotonga to recover the anchors, but be was free to uae hia own discretion; The chief officer, William Pauli, also gave evidence. Go Slow Policy. Gheymouth, Feb 20 The Military Service Board to-day in dealing with appeals by the management of the coal mines on behalf of coal miners and truckers, intimated they would reconsider the position in view of the evidence of a go slow policy being enforced by the workers in coal mines in the Grey district. Meantime the mining appeals were adjourned. '
