GOOD FISHING.

An unusual haul was made at Ruesell last week by Mfssra Campbell, Barry, Thompson and Irvine while fishing for kingfiah. Ou the way to the fishing grounds a school of porpoises was scan to be following the launch, An effort to catch one by trolling was unsuccessful, but finally Mr Irvine was successful in harpooning one of the porpoises. The launch was slowed down, but after the porpoise had taken over 200 yards of* line the engine waa put at full spesd lo keep pace with the fish. A great fight lasted for one and ahalf hours, and finally the porpobo was hauled on board. It w;.a found to weigh about 3 cwt. On arrival pt the fishing grounds several kingfisb, in splendid condition, were hauled the largest weighing about 901 b.

Subsequently Mr Thompson hooked a mako shark. Tnis shark ia one of the strongest fish of its kind, and as a rule, will mak9 several leaps out of the water after baing caught, but the one caught by Mr Thompson only made one leap, and contented itself with numerous rapid ruuftin its efforts to esoape. The fish was played on the rod for an hour and a half, and finally harpooned aod taken on board. It was about 6ft long, and in firstclass condition.
