Mr J. J. Clarke, Chairman of the Hokitika School Committee has handed us tho fo Wo wing communication addressed to him by the scrcretary of the Brunner Picnic Excursion Committee, which explains itself: —
“Dear Sir.—l am instructed by tho members of the Excursion Committee to convoy to you, tho Comxnitte and tlio residents of Hokitika, tlieir heartiest thanks for the kindness and generosity in providing tea, sugar, milk, boilers, fuel, labour of two men, cartage and sundries free of any charge for our annual excursion on, Saturday last. I can assure you that tlio committee and the people here highly appreciate tho kindness meted out to us. Wc te. grpt that tho weather conditions here in the morning of our journey pievented many from coming down, wo hope that tho next time wo como better weather conditions will prevail. Trusting that the Hokitika people will have a grand day for their CKCursion. Again thanking you.—l remain, yours faithfully, JOHN WATSON, Secretary Excursion Committee, Brunner.
