A correspondent writes : —A very pleasant evening was spent at the Exchange Hotel, Blue Spur, on Wednesday evening to bid farewell to Thomas and Edward Brown on the eve of their departure for Trentham. During the evening, Mr Crowley in a few well chosen words, presented each one on behalf of himself, wife and family with a handsome pipe and safety razor. Messrs T. and E. Brown suitably responded, and said they would ever remind them of the pleasant days spent in Blue Spur and trusted they would all meet again in health and strength on their return. An adjournment was then made to the dining room, where a sumptuous repast had been prepared by the hostess, everyone doing full justice to the good things provided. During the evening songs were rendered by Messrs Stafford, Perry, Schroder and Sinnot. Miss Lillie Warwick also gave an exhibition of stepdancing. Mr James Rawlings also gave selections on the zonophone, which added greatly to the evening’s enjoyment. The singing of Auld Lang Syne and cheers for the departing guests and the host and hostess brought a very pleasant evening to a close.
