Po;t Adelaide Sunk
LONDON, Feb. 7
The Admiralty reports that the Port Adelaide was carrying passengers from London to Australia, and was torpedoed without warning on Saturday. Her passengers were landed'’at Vigo.
Another Loss
LONDON, Feb. 7
The Peruvian which sailed from London was submarined on Monday in Spanish territorial waters. Tlie .Admiralty comments that theso incidents emphasise the withdrawal of Germany’s pledgt to the United States not to sink passenger ships without warning, and claim tlie consideration of neutrals.
Big Losses
LONDON, Feb. 7,
Altogether twenty-three sinkings with an aggregation of 54,700 tons are reported for the past twenty-four hours, of which thirteen were British (including the Port Adelaide, Crownpoint of 5,218; Yestra of 1021). The losses in February thus far. are fifty-four vessels, compared with 12S in January of 255,648 tons. PARIS, Feb. 7.
Mr Ala reel Hutiii states that the entire German submarine fleet is hard at work, and a number of ships have boen sunk off tlie French coast.
Traitors Aboard
MADRID, Feb. 7
Details of the loss of the Corton show that a submarine flying tlie French flag appeared and notwithstanding protests sank the ship, then hoisted the German flag. Tlie Gorton’s crew included a Gciuwn officer and several German sailors.
When the submarine was sighted the Germans on hoard cut the rigging and sails to prevent her reaching Spanish waters. The Corton’s crew were saved by a boat from tlie harbour.
The Peruvian consuls have lodged a protest.
Sweden’s Attitude

The Scandinavian Government have decided to send a joint process *o Germany.
COPENHAGEN, Feb. r.
An official message from Stockholm states that the Swedish Foreign Minister informed the American Minister that Sweden cannot respond to President Wilson’s invitation.
AMSTERDAM, Feb. 8,
The Dutch Foreign Minister informed the American Minister that Holland has no ground for imitating President Wilson.
