Mr Vei’cb, M P , speaking at a lap* oheon to the northern parliamentary tour, said:— “A man who says be would just as well live under German rule as under British rule is a fool. We cannot allow men to taikhke that. This war is not a football match. Our soidierß do not want barrackers; *hey want fighters. I was tcld that if I supported military service I would go out of office. In reply to that I ea y that if the soldier is preprred to risk bis life for mo I would be a coward if I were not prepared to risk my billet for him. When Mr Yeifch sat down all present standing gave three rouging cheers Mr Field, M.P., said Mr Yeiich had expressed the sentiment of threefourths or more of tha Labor people of New Zealand.
