ADDINGTON STOCK MARKET.
Per Press Association.—Copyright.,
CHRISTCHURCH,Feb. 7,
Messrs Matson and Coy. report that . at the Addington Stock Yards to-day fat cattle had a medium entry - with no appreciable change on last week’s prices. The freezing buyers took the bulk of the yarding. Prime steers £l7 to £2O 15s; medium weights £l4 to £l6 ; best heifers ,to £l6 10s; medium £ll 15s to £l4 10s. Best cows to £l6; medium £ll to £l3 10s. Store cattle was a smaller yarding, and . there were no special lines. The demand was equal to if not better than last week’s. Three-year old steers £9 17s 6d; 18-months good sort £7 7s bd; yearlings £6 down to £4 17s 6d. For small dry cows £7 10s to £9 15s. Fat Sheep.—There was a larger mar-, ket than usual, with the quality not up to the usual standard. Prices on the whole were similar to last week, although, owing to quality, freezing buyers were more restricted. All good quality brought keen competition. Prime wethers 33s to 38s; medium anu good 30s to 335. Light and inferior 27s to 295. Fat ewes, prime, 32s to 375; medium 27s to 31s 6d; light 23s to 265. The store sheep market was decidedly turner, especially in ewes lambs tit for rape crops. Breeding ewes, sound mouth, irrespective of condition, had a a sharp rise of fully 3s per head owing to no Peninsular lambs offering. Lots which would be. neglected, sueli as nondescript Romney cross from Coiriedale ewes, and hard and backward in-bred and half-bred wether lambs, found purchasers at prices never before recorded in our market. Store wethers were decidedly harder than were equal lots in the fat pens. On the whole the sale must be regarded as with increasing enquiry. Good two-tooth ewes 30s boc; sound 26s 3d to 3ls; forward wethers. 27s’ to 30s; backward 20s to 24s 6d; good rape lambs 20s to 24s 4dj medium ond inferior 16s £o 20s.
