COLLIER TROUBLE.
Settlement Arrived At. The trouble on the Admiralty collier at Wellington was considered by the Waterside Disputes Committee on Friday, when the Minister of Labour, the Hon W. H. Herne?,-was iu attendance. The first matter dealt with was the queetion of the movements of the collier and the purpose for which her cargo was intended. The representatives of the union on the committee (Messrs L. Glover, J. Robetts and 11, J 3. Simmonds—who acted in the absence of Mr George Gray), and also the union secre f ary (Mr T. S. Bruce), were Bat. isged by the Minister on this point. Consideration was then given to the conditions of working, and in view of • the dusty nature of tbe coal the Government agreed to pay an extra 6i per ' hour for all time worked. It was j agreed further that this.should apply , to olher Admiralty boats bringing foreign coal.
The recommendation of tbe Disputes Committee was submitted to a stop-work meeting of the union on Saturday morning, Mr F, Curtice presiding. Afser uue consideration, and the asking of a number of question?, the meeting accepted the recommendation, and work was resumed immediately.
