[PEH PRESS ASSOCIATION.—COPYRIGHT.] Liquor Trade Control. LONDON, Jan. 23. The Cabinet lias instructed the Home Secretary, Lord Daboroon and Sir Geo. Younger to report upon the liquor ' Ifcrade to enable the Cabinet to decide the practicability of the immediate nationalisation of the liquor trade. The Board lias decided upon tne drastic supervisiion of the Glasgow licensed houses in the docks’ area.
Embezzlement Charges. MELBOURNE, Jan. 23. O’Donogliiie (cabled on the 17th) has been remanded on five additional charges of emb'ezzeling £2843, funds of the Navy Department. The prosecutor* stated that the total defalcations w*ro about £IO,OOO. O’Donogbue’s solicitor objected to the statement that the defalcations were so much'. O’Donoghuc had already refunded £IBOO, and hoped to refund practically the whole lot. Remartied. * '
SYDNEY, Jan. 23rd. . Ait the police court Lieut. N. M. Morell Price was remanded on a charge of claiming the pay of Lieut. Downes during November 1915, while 'ho, was Lieut. Adjutant of the Light Horse. i The police prosecutor stated that ho understood the accused was Lieut.Ad- ' jutant in the Light Horse from April to July 1915 and he was alleged to have submitted claims for pay of the jyfiolo unit from the time of demobilisation till the following November. " He drew money which allegedly approximated £50,000. He left.the Defence forces in September last medically unfit. There was a suggestion that he had not "disposed of all the money he obtained. , Counsel for tire defence, in asking and obtaining £3OOO bail stated that de fence was a good one.
