No Cot Cases On Board. {PICS PHESS ASSOCIATION. —COPYRIGHT.] Ddnedin, Jan 20 Thera are no cot cases on ths Navua. The msn generally improved vastly during the voyage. All appear particularly cheerful and glad to be back.
Major F. H. Dampen, who was in charge of the troops learned for the fiißt time on reaching Port Chalmers that he had been awarded the D.S.O Ho want out to Cairo with the New Zealand Contingent from London in 1916 and served oj Gallipoli, where he was wounded ana mentioned in despatches. and later in France. He now returns sick.
Two others on board who have earned the distinction are SergtLaveuder, D.C.O, who belongs to the National Bank at Christchurch, and showed great skill and bravery ai- Chunuk Bay while acting as guide, and Gunner Fleming, of tho Artillery, who gained tho Military Medal in France for volunteering to take a message and communications with another battery which was being shelled. Lieut Clark, formerly of the 10th Regiment, who was wounded in the abdomen at Gallipoli, returns to New Zealaud as an instructor ia bomb throwing and bayonet fighting at Trentham. Altogether, there are nine commissions on board who have been trained at Aldershot, their mission being to instruct in special branches such aa bayonet fighting, physical drill and trench tactics.
