News has been r-eaived in Fiji (reports tbe Sydney “ Daily Telegraph’s” corresponded) fb-it a German trader at Apia, Samoa, which, is occupied by tbe military forces of New Zsalitid, has beau summarily dea't with by tbe local Court for flying tbe German fl'ig. The Gorman is the manager of a station owned by a British, firm. He recently he’d a social gathering, which w vs attended by many of hie countryman. As a result of the convival meeting, ho hoisted the German flig at the fl igstaff, and refused to take it down when requested. The military guard appeared on the scene, the flag was hauled down and all the Germans concerned were arrested. At subsequent Court proceedings tbe principal offender was sentenced to two week/ imprisonment. It is reported that the Administrator (Colonel Logan) cxpmssd the opinion that if he had been in Geitnany and done likewise he would have Ken shot. As a result of this case the premises of the German were searched, acd a supply of arms and ammunition discovered. As long ago as last December it was ordered that alt arms and ammunition were to be handed over to the military authorities.
