[Lord Elgin was horn at Monklands, near Montreal, in 1849, and was edacaled at Eton and JBalloil College, Oxford (M.A.) He was Treasurer of the Household and -First Commissioner of Works in 1886 ; Lord- Lieutenant of Fifesbire since 1886; and Vioeroy of India from 1894 to 1899.]
A Eig EstateLondon, Jan 19 Mr Joseph Beeebam’s estate has been proved at a million. Hla American business is bequeathed to his son Henry. The St Helen’s business will be floated into a private Company, the bulk of the shares whereof being bequeathed to his children.
