MILITARY SERVICE BOARD.

»■ ■ Sitting at Hokitika. Wednesday, Jan 17. The Board met at. 10 a.m. to hear appeals against military service. PreBent —Messrs J. S. Evans, S.M. (Chairman), J. D. Milton, of Christchurch, and E, C. Studbolme, of Wairaate.

Mr A. W. Duncan (Secretary) and Captain Pilkington (military representative) were also present. The Board resumed at 4 p.m. Martin John Shaw and Charles J. P. Sailers. (Mr Sellers appeared lor Shaw.)

The latter gave evidence. He appealed on behalf of his clerk M. J. Shaw. Ee asked for an extension of time for his clerk and also himself. He wished for time to arrange his business. Neither ho nor his clerk objected to giving servica. He “had .served in South Afriea. Adjourned for one month for both &o be medically examined. Thomas Richard Pryor of Ross— Appellant said he was a farmer, 48 yea' s ? of age and single.—Appeal allowed, being over age. Edward Thomas Groufsky of Ruafcapn—Appellant gave evidence that .be was 27 years old, married ten ssaonths. He wished for time to arrange his affaire. Adjourned for a month for medioal examination and if passed as fit for the froift would have to go. Robert Warnock —Gone into camp —Struck out. HeDry James Levett—No appearance—Dismissed. Before the Court adjourned on application being made on their behalf one month was granted to Hercules Anderson and William Trembath to enable them to arrange their affairs. The Court roio at 4.45 p.m. and is .to ait at Kumara to-day.
