WESTLAND COUNTY COUNCIL.
Tuesday, Jan 16th, 1917. The Council met at 2 p.ro. Present: :—Messrs H. Norman (Omnty Chairman), B Ward, J. Grimmond, J. A. Murdoch, R. Well®, A, Gl’fton, T. W. Diff, T. W. Bruce and S. G. Fergueon. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed and outward correspondence approved. MOTION OF CONDOLENCE. The Chairman moved —“ That the Council place on record its public recognition ofi the eervices of the late Herbert Macandrew M.B. to the community and his worth as a public officer and private citizen, end expresses to the family the sympathy of the people of Westland in their sad bereavement” Mr Norman gaid he felt it hia duty to express the sympathy he felt for the loss of a valuable cirizan. Seconded by Mr Cliftoa. Mr Ward supported, feeling the loss of a true citizen, who had done much to advance the best in'erests of the district. He was ever rsady co assist those in need. Messrs Murdoch, Grimmond acd Duff also supported the motion which was carried in silence. INWARD CORRESPONDENCE. From Treasury, forwarding payments for grants and revenue accrued. —Received. From Acting-Premier, regretting inability at present moment for a Minister to visit Westland, and promising to communicate later.— Received. [Left Sitting.'!
