[FEB PBEBS ASSOCIATION.—OOPYBKHKJ. Rich Gold Fmd. ' SYDNEY, Jan. 10. A rich gold strike has been made near Sunny Corner. A thousand ounces of stone from a pocket shows more gold than quartz. Prospectors estimate that the reef will yield a hundred ounces to the ton. So far it has been traced for-three hundred feet. Previously several lino nuggets were unearthed, one being of 20 ounces.
Federal Politics. SYDNEY, Jan. 10 A feature of the gathering which formed the national organisation is that no Federal Liberals were invited. Mr Cook, commenting on the situation, said: “We shall have to gird our selves for a general election at the end of April. The Senate at present controls Mr. Hughes and tho Liberal Party and it appears that nothing can be done until an appeal to the people has cleared the air.” Irish Riot LONDON, Jan. 10. There were serious riots in Cork on Saturday night, when 600 Sinn Feiners attacked 50 soldiers who were returning from an entertainment. The soiuiers fled. The police charged and scattered tho rioters with batons, injuring several. Later on isolated soldiers were attacked.
