BRITAIN’S PREMIER SPEAKS.
A Reply to the Kaiser. (Australian & N.Z. Cable Association and Ranter.) (Received Jan 12, at 1.25 pm.) London, Jan 11 Hon Lloyd George at the Guild--hall eaid the Kaiser had ordered a drug to those he could not dragoon. He told his people -that the had rejected his peace terms. We had not seen his peace terms. Ws/ill wanted peace, but, we musthave a real peace. The Allies, at the Rome Conference;, were under no delusion as to the* magnitude of the task, nor were they doubtful of the result.
The whole situation was probed and the difficulties would befac6d. Arrangements Were made to deal therewith. The Allies felt that if the victory were difficult that defeat was impossible. (Cheers.J There was a grim resolution to rid the world of ' the everlasting menace of the Prussian 'military caste, and to save Europe from an unspeakable despotism. Tho Allies were more, -and more looking towards Britain. He was confident that thg trust was not misplaced. Our Navy would, continue to strangle the eu6my commerce, despite their piratical devices, while with proper support, our gallant armies would cleave the road to victory In 1917. (Loud cheers.) A successful loan would shorten the war, save lives and save the British Empire and European civilisation. The Prussian menace at present constituted a running mortgage which detracted from our national security. Let us clear that mortgage for ever, and in future let the cations combineto punish the first peace breaker (Continued cheering.)
