The fair mix war* in strong numbers and the course was a very animated issue throughout the whole afternoon. There were fine fields in every event, these again being almost a record in number*, while the racing was of a very keen and exciting nature, the handicapping of Mr Noble bringing thrfislda together in a manner that deserve? every commendation. The race fer the Jubiho Cop was one that was worthy ol the occasion. A field of ten faced the startor and the contest was one that was worth going a long wsy to sep. The public backed their fancy in no niggardly faehion with the ieeait that a record for the Coast was established, the sum of £2559 being invested on the race, of which over £llOO was invested on Mr Boberts’ two bracketted hones, which finished first and third respectively, the public fancy befog filly borne out by the result of the race. Speculatioo was keen and substantial in every race, the lowest amount for any of the eight races on the programme being £1,359 ou the first trotting event. The totalieator turnover of the day amounted to the very substantial amount of £12,831 and easily constituted a record for the Club.f making with £10,119 on the first day, a grand totrl of £22,950 for the meeting, as against £13,688 in 1915 and £15,640 in 1906. Mr H. Lynch and bia staff bandied the money with every promptitude and despatch.

The gate receipts for the two daye amounted to £549, aa egafost £295 for the previous year. The energetic Secretary (Mr D. J. Evans) together with the other officials had everything in first class order and there wai nothi ig to roar the enjoyment of patrons, who will look back on the jabilee gathering with very pleasant recollections. The Town Band wa9 again present and played an enjoyable programme. The booths reaped a big harvest the large crowd keeping the attendants busy ail day, while the refreshment rooms were alro well patronised.

At the cutting Killjoy took the lead and there waa not much change till the bond was reached. Here Slogan began to move up and Martial Air retired. A great race down the straight ■aw Killjoy win by a length, Xiothoa and Slogan fighting out a great finish, the former winning by a head, with Golden Morn fourth and Bradamante fifth. Time 1.42 2-5. Tote £2,559, a record amount for one rase for the Coast. . Killjoy and Slogan were bracketed on the machine.
