land ever since, and richly the combination deserve it, for it is a complete one, complete in principals, chorus* staging, ballot, orchestra, dressing, and all the hundred and one departments required for the proper production of musical comedy. Mr La Blanc is ably seconded by Mr Jake Mack, as a comedian, and the entrance of these two gentlemen on the stage as “Ike Cohen” and “Morris Levi” is the advent of good, sterling, clean comedy. Misa Maud Miles, the principal lady, is from musical comedy and opera companies in England and
Australia, Marcel and Fallon ar e two artißta that bear the brnnt of a lot of the successes of the productions. The ballet, a “ necessary ” in musical comedy, is wall represented by ’‘The Pony Ballet Team,” a charming bevy of young Australian Indies who dance superbly and era not afraid of the heavy dancing numbers that fall to the:r lot. A special feature in lha productions is the artistically correct BiDging of the “ Naw York Four.” This quartette of talented singers sake no second place to anyone in the performance?. If fault can bo found at all, it is that their work i» too limited. Their contributions are of the quaint half comedy, half religious, and all harmony, musical quartett-js. The pieces are well staged and dressed. The opening musical comedies on Monday evening next are " The Giy Mrs Cohen ” and “ In Old Seville.” The piece is singularly rich in musical numbers, and the Pierrot B.l'cf, the Flower Ballet, tha Scotch Billet and the “ Charley Chaplain ” Ballet are amongst the Inst in fcho company’s repertoire. On Tuesday evening the musical extravaganza “ Fuzzy YVtizzy ” will be produced and Wednesday the quaint musical dream play, ‘’Then He Woke Up,” will be the farewell performance in Hokitika. A complete orchestra play the music incidental to the plays. The prices are sat at 4/, 3/ aDd 2/. The box plan will be open to-morrow, Friday morning, at Mrs Browne’s, where seats may be reserved for the season in the Dress Circle and front stalls.
