VALEDICTORY.

The general staff of the Dower Hutt Borough Council met on Monday afternoon to farewell Mrs McMillan, who has resigned from the position of chief stenographer after holding the office With conspicuous distinction for five years. On behalf of the staff the Towm Clerk expressed regret that they were losing sw^x a congenial and efficient officer and asked her to accept a beautiful set of crystal goblets with decanter and wateT jug, also a silver card ease. Mrs. McMillan feelingly replied expressing regret at leaving her frienda with whom she had worked so happily; The proceeding concluded with, the singing "JFor She's a Jolly Good Fellow" and best wishes for the guest's future, happiness.
