A GENEROUS OFFER.

It is with much pleasiire that we direct the attention of our readers to the generous offer of the Lower Hutt Chamber of Commerce to provide a week's free bus travel for residents .away from the immediate centre to come to do their Christmas shopping, and subsequently return to their homes. The report of'the meeting of this body on Monday evening last which appears elsewhere gives the details of the sc*heine, a*id a full time-table of routes to be traversed and the times therefor is to be found on page* 11.' Very hearty eommen- , dation must. pe jjiven to the busi- i ness men of the town for their 11 acumen and foresighted generosity in subscribing the funds neces sary to carry into effect the proposal of the executive of the Chamber to carry, free of cost, residents of the outlying districts to the really excellent shopping centre where their «very want can be as well and economically catered for as would be the case were they to visit either of the four large centres of the Dominion. In effect the shopkeepers now say "We will convey you without fatigue or expense to as good a shopping centre as can be had any where and after you have had the opportunity of seeing our goods, (which we are certain will please you) we will return you again to your home; you will have been able to buy your every requirement at a reasonable price and of 'the best quality, and you will nave done a good turn to your neighbour, and thereby assisted the interests of the district in which you have made your home. * The schedule1 of routes and times for the Christmas service has been most carefully planned under expert guidance, and will be found both comprehensive and convenient, and it now only remains for the residents to show their appreciation of the generosity of the Hutt business men by taking advantage of the facilities provided from to-morrow up to and including Christmas Eye.
