"THE MESSIAH.

When Handel's first compositions were V..ST ccessft! and he turned Ms efforts toward sacred music, lie little dreamed that his work 'The Messiah' was destined to .become the greatest oratorio of all time. It has fceea performed countless times at every ChTistjnastide, yet its popularity never wanes. It is the supreme expression of the coming of the Christ.

Although Wellington has its share of the performances this year, transport difficulties and lack of time will prevent many suburban dwellers from attending! Therefore, in order to eatex specially for the residents in the Hutt, the choir of the Lower Hutt Methodist Church will render "The Messiah" on Sunday next, December 7tfe. The ranks of the choir have been, considerably strengthened and tender the baton of frhat talented conductor, Mr JBrw-ft Dawson, their singing is more than equal to that 1 in any of the city churches. Mr. C. R. Horman will be at the organ and there will be an orchestra of 25 players drawn from the 2YA and Wellington Symphony Orchestras. The soloists are Miss Christina Ormist<m of Auckland (soprano), Mrs Wilfred Andrews (contralto), Mr. Austin Blackie (tenor) and Mr. Orr ((bass). The performance will also be broadcast from 2YA. With. such outstanding talent it promises to be t3i© most inspiring rendering ever given in the TLutt and no lover of good, music should neglect to avail himself of this- opportunity to her.'* The Messiah."
