We have to acknowledge •with thanks, gifts from the following, mostly per Mrs O 'Flaherty, from residents of H'Utt, Petone, "Wellington and th<3 Bays. Mesdames Johnson, Craig, Anon, MeCWiie, Ndehiolls, Bay ant, Evans,. Jeff cries, Hall, Singer,. 17 Udy Street, 112 and 102 Richmond Street/ ail of Pettone. Mesdames Johnston, Parlianieint: Street^,

Iscm e, Hollis and Gillies, all of Kings Road; • Juopwer Butt; Mrs Luxton and- ' friend. Mesdames Thrower, Hanland, j <3L Cooper, Halse, McFadden, Bromley i and 104, 81, and 109, all of Tinalcori Road, Wellington. Also Mrs Doiblbin," Hill. Street, Mrs Bothamley, Haiwkestone'St., Mrs. Dieksoai, Mercer Street, ail of Wellington. During the month we have. distributed 856 gatnnents, 5 layettes, 3 men 's^suits, 71 pairs boats and shoes, small sums of money, pram, bed, etc. One hundred and thirty applications for help have been received this month, mostly for clothes, 'but several; other requests. I have to thank the people wiho have offered, a day 's worfi each in response to the appeal,, and the donor of five •shillings, per ' ' Hut News'' Office, whose; name I have not got yet.

A very great help and. eneourageanent in . the work are the beautiful letters written^ to me, some anonymous, others from complete strangers, though signed, and from people who have received

•help. These'more tia-n counterbalance the few gruttnibles one gets, "when, perhaps after days of tramping and (begging, the thing needed by someone is not forthcoming, and we got asked .wb'at' we aae here fox! One committee inenrber tramped for six day© to beg the'things which were given out in tivro hours, and the others of t>h.e committee deeply appreciate the fact that though, not obtaining goods at every place, she received no rebuffs, and much kindness and interest was shown in the work.

We have to draw attention to the cfatt that someone is canvassing for goods ostensibly for us, but no on© has iheen . authorised to do so outside the comiiiittee, and when asked for clothes we v/f.uld esteem it a favtouT if householders would ask for the badge to be sltowiij or the book with the Bed Cross lettetheacl pasted on it. We know, and" appreciate very much, the fact that some people give things to their friends who are coining to us with gifts from theiys-elves,.bTi!t so far as we know nothin-g Jias been left at the rooms by any collector but our- own. Thait someone has been round was reported to headquarters, and none of the committee, had been to the places mentioned, and 119 parcels have come forward with t3ie'statement that they had been col-lecting-for us.-^I am etc., (Mrs) F. E. JOYCE . ; Secretary Women's Auxiliary.
