WAIWETU GOLF CLUB.

The weekly ball eonipeifition was won by H. Hansen 6 nett. The finals of the Junior " two-life" competition were played duririg^ the week-end, when 'G. "FT- Alston, who has riot lost a "lifei; * was defeated fry T. J. Harvey (2 and 1) (who had »had loss, thit the second and deciding match resulted in a weill merijted win for Alston. This competition which'was promoted for the benefit of members >on handicaps of 20 and over, was played on special handicaps. The results have more than justified the event which has been the means of creating . great enthusiasm among t>he many beginners in the Cluib, who have thus gained valuable match play experience. The Club's policy of emeouraginig the Juniors -will b^ear fruit next - season when a fine" lat of medium handicap players will be availaible. Amongst the first-year players who "have msade rapid progress may be particularly mentioned T. J. Harvey, who won the junior eham pionship, W. T. Wilson, W. R. Rerris, S. C.' Burns and S; L; Rodger, the last named twinning the electric competition. :The junior ■consolation handicap for a trophy presented by Mr. T. J. Harvey was won by W. S. Locklie&d. The season will be closed next -weekend, when a-mixed four-ball bogey will be* played together-with putting/ approa>ch^ng and driving competitions.
