At the meeting of thje Biver BoaTdJ on Tuesday evening the audited bal-J ance sheet for 1929-30 duly certified^ by the AuditoT-CS'eneral, was placed oal the table. Members made complimentary references to the despatch witK which the balance sheet had been prepared by Mr. Gearing and his staff and thiit no tag was attached.
To temper a new casserole, rub the outside with a xew onion. This prer vents contraction, which is a frequent cause of cracking when the pot is ' heated. ,
