;In its early days tie procession of the Lord Mayor of London to itho Law Courts to receive the Boyal assent to his eleetion-r-a.; procession, which we now call the "Lord Mayor's Show"—consisted of a string of; State barges on the Thames. Later t!ho journey was made on horseback.
In 1711 the Lord Mayor was thrown from his horse, and it was decided that in future a qoach should be used. The originall coach is still used on November 9 every year. It was built in 1757/ and has panels painted by ttie, Italian painter Cipriani. /
