UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFIT DANCE.
(To: the Editor)
Sii',—Herewith we submit for publica-
tion in-your paper the financial statement Nre the Benefit Dance organised by the Lower Hutt Association Football Club in aid of the Mayor 'a Unemployment Fund. To some this may appear quite a modest total but coming, as it has done, chiefly from the pockets of workers we deem it reflects the utmost credit on all who have contributed and to all donors —-of cash or otherwise—we would say very sincerely indeed ''Thank You." We would stress that for such a worthy
cause we appreciate fully the giving spirit as much as the actual gif t, -and we have no desire to individualize in our
thanks, but we think-we. may be pardon:
Ed for specially, acknowledging, the most „ helpful assistance given by the ft Hutt and Petonem Chronicle/ also the l : ' Hutt News.'' Covering as they do a very wide area these newspapers have undoubtedly done much to interest many in this benefit ,and the proprietors have been generous ino«ed in permitting us the use . —gratis— of their columns.'■ To the directors of the King George Hall, also must credit be given for so kindly letting us have the hall at a cost only covering the bare expenses, and it
is by such concessions on the expendi-
ture side that..we have been able to show such a fine profit on the actual dance.
P. S. Taylor and- Sons have, by their generosity been the means of considerably augumenting this unemployment fund and to Grantham Ltd., we are also grateful for assistance given.
We wish also to express our warmest appreciation of the whole-hearted sup-
port received from our committee those
working for this special effort being:— Mesdames Potts, McLell&u, Bird, McDougali, Blythe and. Brown; Misses Adam, Alexander,. McLellan and Blair; Messrs Potts, Acvum, McLellan, Bathelor, Bird, McDougall, Charles, Harris, I Dewar, Logan and Brown. Finally we would state that in handing over this amount we have every confidence that TTiii Worship the Mayor will expend same to the very best advantage and we have pleasure in knowing that, directly or indirectly several homes will be made the happier as the result of our endeavours. Signed: C. Cathro, chairman Mrs Jean Bathelor, * secretary, Association Dance Committee.,
