A very pleasant afternoon was spent ! on Tuesday- sth August, at the home ! of Mrs. John Mitchell, "Casa Lorna" j Moiling, when the Western Hutt-Bel-lcont Branch of the British and Foreign Bible Socioty hold its annual fcno'eting.1 Before the : meeting, after-, noon tea was served and Mrs. T.-A. ■Cainpbell. gave several solos which were greatly enjoyed. The meeting was attended by Mrs. Oalder and Mrs. Florence Porter, or- * ganising secretary for Wellington Auxiliary. Mrs. Mitchell, welcomed those present and Mrs. Calder : opened the moe.ting withr prayer. Apologies for absence <were received from Lady Roberts, Mesdames Boyd, Dawson, Ballantyne and Natusch. p v . The secretary" reported .that £13/4/----had been collected this year. M!rs. Porter spoke on the .growth of the Bible Society during the past year! Tho Bible had been, translated jiito * ■■■■' ■ ■ ?v twelve now languages, five of these translations having been done .by wo^ ; men missionaries. i Mrs. Oalder gave a most inspiring taJlk on the "work she saw being accomplished by the Society in Cairo and India during her visit there last year. ' Both, speakers were heartily thankcv! for their most interesting addresses. Officers and collectors were then ■elected for the ensuing year. President, Mrs. John Mitchell (re-elected) ;• Vice-presidents: Lady Roberts. Mrs. Baillarityne and Mrs. Natusch. Secretary, Miss M.. Peasants. Collectors: Mesdames Boyd, Martin^ Natitsc-li-and Presants. - Mrs Porter thanked Mrs. Mitchell for her generous hospitality and the meeting closed with the. Benediction.
