HAROLD LLOYD IN "WELCOME DANGER" The Story.
Harold Bledsoc, youthful botanist, is travelling" to San Franeiso for his.first, visit since the death of his father, who had. been eheif of police, and had ruled with, an iron fist.. Since this demise the lawless element of the city had regained an alarmingly flourishing power. Friends of the late chief cast about desperately for a man strong enough to put down the criminals. They finally decided that Harold was probably a chip off the oldblock- and that he could fill the bill. En routo the train stops at a small Western town. Harold gets out to examine souks l-are wild flowers. "WMle he loiters the train pulls out ; a cow'^ibtrtts him into the roadside and a breaking old Ford stops a few feet from his sprawling form. There is a beautiful yaung girl, Billie Lee in th-e ear, with her young brother who is a crippled They volunteer to take Harold to another town whore he can get a latex train. Harold falls in love with the beautiful charmer, who explains that s4lO ,too, plans a trip to Ban Franeiso, where Dr. Chang Grow, famous physician, is to perform an operation on fcer brother which will enable him to walk. Harold catches his train, and then he realises that he hasn 't learned heir name. Dr. Gow complains to Captain Walter that the spread of gang activities and the narcotic cvi} has' detracted from hj*» work. John Thorne also appears and complains to the captain .that drastic action is needed. Harold tetls them that in taking over the , reins 'of- offieo he must -huvo everyone finger-printed. Thorne objects, but Harold snips the front of Thorne V hat and gets finger-prints from the places where Thorne had touich-ed its b*iinu..',; - "..-.'■ ■■■ •*"■-.. In the meantime Harold has again mot Billie. .He purchases a lily in a Chinese ; flower shop and takes it to
her apartment just as Dr. Gow is telling t>he girl that he can cure her 'brother. As the doctor is leaving, the flower pot is aecideritly brushed to the flooiv It breaks, disclosing a packet of
smuggled goods
Harold rushes back to the flower shop. On the way there he enlists Policeman Patriqk Clancy. Hatchfetmen. of N the Tongs surround them. They battle them off but find themselves lost. •
By a" trick Harold gets into the garib of a Chinaman and enters a room where "The Drag-on" is holding a meeting. They have captured Dr. "G-o.w. and are about to torture him when Harold ignites a packet of crackers and prevents the Orientals from doing the- physician a violence
In tho battio- which follows Harold mixes it wit-h: "The Dragon", who fallsinto a partially heated, kettle of oil. His oily fingers leave their imprint on Harold's forehead.
Police reserves arrive and round, up everyone except "The Dragon", who escapes through a secret passage.
At the station house Captain Walton quizzes all of them and decided that Harold has accomplished nothing. He taunts the broken-hearted lad just as Thorne comes in, immaculately dressed and saintly-looking. Ho too, calls Harold a failure. But Billie arrives) see the finger-prints on Harold's forehead, and tolls him they might be valuable. He compares them; they are the same as Thome's. .
He dashes after Thorne, who has •left the station house for his &om.e. Thorne 'summons a gigantic Negro, whom he instructs to take Harold into an anteroom and beat him. Harold ma#iages to conquer him.by trickery.
Meanwhile the police have been sum-' nipneel, and when they arrive Captain Walton bustles into the room just in. time to, hoar Thoxne confess t-hat he is "The Dragon", king of the underworld. ■■'."'■. 7
This is Harold's big victory. A moment later Billie arrives. \Haroid picks her up, places te on a policeman's motorcycle, and rides off with her into a world that is Tosy at last. .
