On the local ground Hutt-met Varsity and* after a fast game emerged winners 'by 2 goals to 1: Lustyiand Marsh scored for 'Hutt and Reid for Varsity. The referees were Dr. ;Hickcy and Mr. J. W. The game ended Hutt 5 Wellington 0. Mr. Me . Kenzie ably controlled the game. . The Hutt B team were defeated by Wesley by 3 goals to 1. Phillips scored Hutt's only goal. The forwards, with the exception of Phillips, were not up to standard. Instead of combining and. passing to their own men, they often placed the ball in a handy position for their opponents to clear. The halves played too far back leaving a gap be- ; tween tne forwards and themselves. After the splendid exhibition this team gave the previous week, their display last Saturday was extremely disappointing- % . . JUNIORS. Playing at Ivilbirnie Hutt were defeated tby Wesley by 3 goals to 2. Scorers for Hutt were L. Bennet and A. Dawson. Both teams played shoi-t, Hiutt having 8 men and Wesley 9. Hutt had the better of the game but like previous games were unable to do anything when they got to the goal mouth. The left wing and left half played round with the ball too much and lost several opportunities. The rest of the players played well. " THIKDS. At Petone the Hutt Thirds registered another win 'by defeating Petone by 2 goals to nil. Johnston and McDonald fwere the scorers. NOTES. All hockey will be postponed on Saturday next, 9th inst. Players who iwish to witness the Fourth Test match .between Britain and New Zealand will be able to do so. An endeavouT, is being made to comply with an invitation from the Horo•whenua Assiociation to send a junior team to Otaki. Although Jim's playing | days, are over, he still takes an interestin the game and coaches one of the ladies' teams. .
