MALE ATTIRE.

(To frhe,Editor). It seems a matter for regret that your correspondent has completely misunderstood the spirit in which "Joan Kennedy's^' helpful little dissertation on male attire was written, for, as we are told, "The letter pTofitetlv nothing!" There has, for years past, been wopldjwioje agitation on the part of the "reasonable sex," with regard to its attire, and one felt that perhaps a little support from the opposite sex might

not .be amiss, so that, sir, dispenses with the "critical mood" your' correspondent refers to.. Only the other day, shy we-were delighted to hear—or see— that our dear aethetic prince appeared at a function in—a check suit, a salmon shirt, tie to tone (retl) and -his. usual black and white shoes. A. Jittle feminine encouragement, mcthinks, and we should have very little reason to complain of the "reasonableness" of our prince's attire! Your correspondent, sir, certainly strikes the right note when he asserts that "Being as accus-

tomed to evening-dress as to a loungesuit, I have never felt uncomfortable in either!" Of course he hasn't for, never having been accustomed to comfort^ he doesn 't miss it, poor deluded soul! Now, sir, may I_close by submitting a proverb for the consideration of " Sartar Eesartus,'' namely '' Brevity is the soul of "wit!" —I am etc.,

"J.K." - P.S.-—I should have been briefer myself 'had I not wished to be explicit, and I think we might waive the little matter of the undies for, after.all, "what the eye doesn^t see," etc., etc.
