When wearing crepe-TUbber-soled shoes .don't go too close to a fi|e, as rubber melts .when, exposed to : heat. To impart a-gloss to table-napkins when lannderi^ng them, dip them in boiling "water after washing' in the usual_ way, then wring them tightly between two starched cloths and iron with a very hot iron. During cold weather, dean out the fuel stove when cooking is finished, and set the kindling for the next day. The of t&e stove Will dry the fuel, which will blaze readily when lit next morning. When washing yellow cotton' material such as curtains, a little sulphur added to the last rinsing-Water wilt assist in preserving the colour. '■- . A clean piece of blotting paper cut to the correct size is an excellent sub-! stitute fpr a lamp wick.
