COMING-OF-AGE.
On 17th July Mr. and-Mrs. ,W. W. Markland,. of Norman dale entertained a number of friends in . honour of the doming of age of their only son, George William. A beautiful birthday cake de eovated in designs of pink, w&ito and orange, with 21 black cupids adorned tho centre of the table and was the object of much amusement and admiration. Songs weTe rendered by Mosdames Potts, Stewart, Nieholls and Markland. Mrs Stowers played the accompaniments and Mrs.. H.'Wright played several pianoforte solos. The competitions were won by Mesd&mes Stew- ! art, Wright, Potts and Mrs Jolty secured the .booby prize. In an appropriate speech Mx. Markland presented his son with a key. The guest of honour also received many useful presents from his numerous friends, including one from his boy friends,.the presentation being made by Mr. B. Peeney. A number of toasts were .honoured arid after a most enjoyable evening the party broke up in the. early houTs of the morning with the singing of "He's a Jolly Good Fellow,"
